The mayor opened the celebration with the national anthem, followed by an introduction and welcome from Dr. Layal Haris. Then, the mayor Amin Al-Kaakour delivered a speech, congratulating the installation of solar energy devices to provide permanent power for extracting water through the artesian well pump, which supplies Baassir with potable water. He thanked the benefactors who took the initiative to secure all the requirements for implementing what the dormant state failed to do. He said: “In these difficult times, we bow to all the benefactors who rush to do good without hesitation. Today, in the absence of resources for all municipalities, we seek to rise through our special connections and relationships with benefactors, hoping to provide what we can to dispel the darkness from our country.” He thanked the Ministry of Energy and Water and the Beirut and Mount Lebanon Water Establishment for their administrative approvals that accompanied the implementation stages, and everyone who contributed to the project’s completion. Al-Kaakour announced that a project to install solar energy for the primary artesian well at “Ku’a Amun” would be implemented after completing all project requirements. Then, Engineer Ibrahim Emad Al-Kaakour spoke, stating that under the guidance of Dr. Colonel Imad Al-Kaakour, they launched a campaign to address the difficult living conditions facing our beloved country Lebanon and to support the state in securing the basic needs for a decent life, including healthcare, food, and supplying homes with potable water. He expressed his pride in inaugurating a new well drilling project for Baassir town and its residents, along with providing the well with the necessary solar energy to generate electricity and supply potable water to the town’s network. He added: “Supporting the state… are two words that some do not understand their significance, from climbers to corrupt. What some also do not understand is that the state is the people and not a foreign body. Without it, we lose the minimum levels of a decent life.” He continued: “When the state weakens, some search the sinking ship for what can be exploited for personal gain. And some see its sinking as an opportunity to climb to the top, even if it is on their way to drowning. And some pack their bags to leave and do not look back.” He stressed: “Our mission, for hundreds of years, has been to stand by the state with all the strength we have and serve the public interest in defense of our beloved homeland from the ambitions of enemies, both foreign and domestic. This is our message, the message of our ancestors. For those who ask, where are the charitable projects we committed to implementing, we say: if you missed the past hundred years of sacrifices from the late honorable Hasan Bey Al-Kaakour to this day, then remember, every time you wake up in the morning, know that our projects reached your homes through the state… and only through the state, without asking which family this house belongs to, or which sect, or which party, for this project is for everyone, in compliance with the noble verse {hold fast to the rope of Allah all together and do not separate} may God be truthful.” The president of the association, Dr. Jameel Al-Kaakour, spoke at the end, welcoming the attendees and pointing out that after the wish and recommendation by Dr. Colonel Emad Al-Kaakour to find a solution to the water problem in the town, the association implemented the project in two stages: first, a new well was drilled next to the old well under the supervision of the mayor Amin Al-Kaakour, then the well station was powered by electricity through “100 panels” of solar energy, with the approval of the Ministry of Energy and Water and funding from the Baassir Charitable Association. He indicated that this project is part of the initiatives undertaken by the association in collaboration with benefactors. He praised the efforts of everyone who contributed to the success of the project, particularly mentioning engineers Salim Riad Al-Kaakour, Ali Sharaf Al-Din, Mustafa Ali Al-Kaakour, and Haitham Muhammad Al-Kaakour. He affirmed that the association continues its developmental charitable work with the support and confidence of the town’s residents. Finally, the project inauguration ribbon was cut
